CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - On May 4, the annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride will roll off in Deadwood, South Dakota.

After seven days and 2,100 miles, the riders will arrive at the Victory Junction Camp in Randleman, N.C., just outside of Greensboro.

The destination is the reason they ride. Over the years, the charity event has raised more than $21 million for children with serious medical conditions or disabilities.

Petty, the former NASCAR driver shared his personal story with us.
