CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Elevate Mother’s Day this year at El Puro Cuban Restaurant.

The restaurant will have two events: brunch from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with live music by 2 y Más and dinner from 4-10 p.m. with music by Son de Oriente.

El Puro Executive Chef Carlos Nevárez and Owner and Marketing Manager Ana Perez stopped by the QC Life studio to demonstrate torrejas, a Cuban style of French toast.

Guava and cheese torrejas

Ingredients:

3 thick sliced Cuban bread

3oz guava paste (cubed)

1oz sliced toasted almonds.

2oz sweet cream cheese

2oz guava maple syrup

3oz sliced strawberry.

3oz blueberry

Garnish: powder sugar and whipped cream

Torreja batter:

14oz condensed milk

2qrt milk

2qrt evaporated milk

8 eggs

20g vanilla extract

Guava maple syrup:

5 cup maple syrup

2 cup guava Marmalade
