CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - It’s National Veggie Burger Day! With us to celebrate is Pierre Bloomfield, Ace No. 3′s general manager.
He stopped by to show us how to make the classic ace burger with a plant patty. It features American cheese, caramelized onions, house made pickles, zesty comeback sauce and a brioche bun.

Here’s the recipe so you can make it yourself:
Ingredients:

- ¾ cup cooked + cooled brown rice
- 1 ⅓ cup rinsed, mashed red beans
- ⅓ cup yellow diced onion
- ½ cup shredded carrots
- ¼ can pimientos
- ½ tbsp chili powder
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- ½ tbsp chickpea miso
- ½ tbsp ground flax seeds
- 1 tbsp ground sunflower seeds
Directions:
- Add oil to a large pot and sauté onions, carrots, and pimientos until softened
- Add the chickpea miso and mix well until fully incorporated
- Turn off heat
- Add spices and mix well
- Spread mixture on a sheet tray to cool
- Once cooled, transfer rice, beans, and veggie mix to a bowl and add in ground flax and sunflower seeds
- Mix well
- Use mixture to make four 5oz patties by hand
- Grilled, sauté, or deep fry to cook through
- Dress with your favorite toppings in a brioche bun
