CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - A Charlotte-based nonprofit is gearing up for a fundraiser gala benefitting students in Africa.

Chef Awo Amenumey, owner of Eh’vivi, is a founding member of AfroCareCLT and is preparing for the organization’s second fundraiser gala on Thursday, Sept. 19.

The gala will include an upcycled fashion show, a fine dining experience of Ghanaian food, art from Ghana and entertainment.

Money raised through the gala will go to build the second floor of a middle school in the city of Kumasi, a sister city of Charlotte, in Ghana.

Chef Awo joined the show to talk more about the gala, the work being done in Africa, and to make “apapransa,” a Ghanian dish that will be served at the gala.
