Learning how to make sauce from state-renowned Aliño Pizzeria

Delish magazine named the Mooresville restaurant the one ‘everyone is obsessed with’ in N.C.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - According to Delish, a Mooresville pizza place is “The Pizzeria Everyone is Obsessed with In [North Carolina].”

Almost every ingredient used in a pizza made at Aliño Pizzeria comes from Italy. Talk about authentic!

The wood-fired ovens cook pizzas at 900 degrees and are never turned off.

Michal Bay, the owner of Aliño Pizzeria, shared his sauce recipe so you can see—and taste!—for yourself what sets his pizza apart.

Aliño Pizzeria’s Pizza Sauce

1 28-ounce can whole San Marzano tomatoes

1 tablespoon virgin olive oil

Chopped fresh garlic

Fresh ground black pepper

Sea salt

Place tomatoes in a large bowl. With clean hands, crush the tomatoes to your preferred texture for a pizza sauce. Crushing the tomatoes yourself will give you a better result than purchasing pre-crushed tomatoes.

Add one tablespoon olive oil, plus salt and pepper to your taste. Add fresh garlic to taste, from one to three cloves.

Refrigerate the sauce overnight to allow the flavors to blend. Spread thickly on pizza dough and top with your favorite toppings.
