LOCUST, N.C. (WBTV) - Highway 55 has all the stuff you’d expect; fresh burgers, fries, cheese steaks, onion rings….But the thing you might not expect is who brings out your meal.
Rosey is a high-tech, mild-mannered robot, that glides through the restaurant with ease. She has cameras on her, so she sees people who are in the way.
She’ll go around you. If she can’t fit, she knows that and she’ll say, “Excuse me.”
Her name and the sounds she makes may sound familiar to those of us who are of a certain age, including owner Derek Osborn.
“We grew up on the Jetsons,” Osborn said. “Men my age, women my age who remember that. Who remembers the Saturday morning cartoons.”

This version of Rosey is a little more modern than the cartoon version, but they did their best to keep her true to the “original” Rosey.
“We incorporated the decals that go along with Rosey. Just hearing the wave and seeing the decals. It takes you back to where your kids are right now,” said Osborn.
Rosey talks to customers when she arrives at your table, but she’s not the only person who will talk to you.
“We still want that human contact. So, a server always goes to the table with Rosey. We make sure you have everything you need,” Osborn said.
Rosey won’t be taking anyone’s job, and the customers seem to get a kick out of having her around.
“He didn’t know what to think. He was staring at it,” said one mom, referencing her baby. “I have to admit: It was pretty cool having Rosey, bring my burger to the table.”
