CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Thursday is National Burger Day and we’re celebrating with a Charlotte staple: the Ace Burger.
Alyssa Rutherford, district manager at Ace No. 3, joined the show to make the restaurant’s iconic sandwich and shared the recipe, which can be found below.
For those who want to try Ace No. 3, they have three Charlotte-area locations. One is outside Uptown, another is in Myers Park, and the third is across from Concord Mills Mall.
Ingredients:
- Brioche bun
- 2 four-ounce patties of fresh ground beef
- 2 slices of American cheese
- 2 TBSP finely diced yellow onions
- 5-6 thinly sliced pickles (your pick)
- 1 TBSP “Comeback Sauce” (chili sauce & mayo mixture or sub Russian/Thousand Island dressing)
- Burger Seasoning - Salt + Pepper (2:1 ratio), plus your choice of garlic salt/onion powder/etc.
Directions:
- Heat a pan, griddle (cast iron recommended), or flat-top grill to medium-high heat (about 325+ degrees).
- Coat your surface with a light layer of cooking oil.
- Toast bun, placing face side down. Remove when golden brown.
- Place your preferred sauce on the top bun and cover the sauce with thinly sliced pickles.
- Place burgers on the cooktop and use a press/punch to aerate.
- Season the topside generously (you will not season the opposite side).
- After about 90 seconds, flip the patties.
- After about 30 seconds, top both patties with American cheese.
- Put 2 TBSP of grilled onions on one patty, and spread evenly.
- Once the cheese begins to melt over the side and brown on the edges, take patty without onions and place it on top of the patty with the onions, then remove and place it on the bottom bun.
- Place the top bun on patties. Enjoy!
